Vote on what Steady builds next

Steady grows in the open. Below is everything we are exploring to help people put nail biting and skin picking behind them — from a watch that notices your hand on its way up, to a program that paces itself to your own data. Your vote decides what we research and build first.

How this works: tap the arrow on anything you want. No account, no email — one vote per feature per person. Every idea here still has to earn its place: we prototype it, measure it, and only ship what genuinely helps.

In the moment

Noticing and interrupting the behavior right when it happens.

Wrist detection with a gentle tap

Your Apple Watch learns the hand-to-mouth movement and gives you one quiet tap the moment it starts — before you have bitten anything. Fully on-device, nothing recorded, nothing leaves the watch.

Personal risk windows

Steady learns from your own log which hours, places and moods come before tough moments — and quietly prepares you just before your window, instead of reminding you at random times.

Desk companion for Mac

An optional menu-bar helper that uses the same private, on-device camera awareness as the iPhone during work blocks — because for many people, most biting happens at a screen. No imagery is ever stored.

The method

A complete, personal program — not just tracking.

Adaptive 8-week program

The full habit reversal arc — awareness, competing responses, environment changes, practice — that moves at the pace of your own progress rather than the calendar.

Personal trigger profile

A deeper optional intake that maps what drives your habit — sensations, feelings, situations — and tailors your tools, reminders and plan to your profile.

Environment toolkit

Guided plans for the physical side: bitter polish schedules with reapply reminders, nail-care routines that remove snag triggers, and fidget placement for your personal hotspots.

Graduation mode

When things have been quiet for a while, Steady offers to step back — fewer check-ins, a lighter presence, and everything restored instantly if you want it back. The goal was never to keep you in an app.

Trust and support

Evidence, professionals, and the people around you.

Independent scientific evaluation

An opt-in way to donate your anonymized log to university research, so Steady's approach gets independently evaluated and published — and gets better for everyone.

Therapist sharing

A session-over-session progress report series you can hand to a therapist, plus an easy way to find BFRB-experienced professionals near you.

Ally mode

A carefully designed role for a partner or parent: they see only what you choose to share, and can send one gentle, pre-written encouragement a day — replacing nagging with support.

Private weekly reflections

A weekly written reflection built from your own notes and patterns, generated entirely on your device. No chat, no cloud — your words, mirrored back with care.

Missing something? We read every suggestion. Suggest a feature

About voting privacy: we store no account, name, email or IP address. A vote is recorded as an anonymous one-way code so the same person is counted once per feature — that is all.

Meanwhile, Steady already helps today

Logging in three taps, urge help in one, the decoupling method, a home-screen widget and an Apple Watch companion — private by architecture, with a complete free tier.
